The forgotten ones

Published on May 14, 2021

Investigative journalists have increasingly suffered threats while working to report corruption and organized crime. However, these efforts have often exposed them to greater risks. The important role journalists play in tackling organized crime must be protected. Today we release a new publication, ‘The forgotten ones: Relatives of murdered and disappeared journalists in Mexico’, which presents the key findings of a study carried out by Griselda Triana, widow of Mexican journalist Javier Valdez murdered in May 2017.

About the author

Griselda Triana is a journalist, activist and human-rights defender. She is the founder of the Javier Valdez library in Mexico City and host of the radio programme Siempre Vivas, in which she interviews female journalists.
